Swimming Pool Family Games and Fun

March 8, 2010

There are many games out there to encourage family fun in the swimming pool. Whether it is the use of store bought floats and toys or made-up games, the interaction between family and friends does it’s job of creating fun and friendships between individuals.

Fun games to play in the pool are those such as relay races or tag. Tag games always involve one person being ‘it.’ One form of the game can include Freeze Tag in which the ‘it’ player has to tag as many of the other players as possible. Once tagged, that player must freeze in his position and can only be released when tagged by another player. The game goes on until all players are tagged.

There are many relay games to try your hand at. Some fun ones to play include the Clothing Relay and the Pool Float Relay, both involving teams. The Clothing Relay requires the use of clothing such as shirt, hat, pants, and gloves. Each team is divided up on either side of the pool. One member dresses in the clothing, swims across the pool, takes the clothes off, and hands them over to the next team member. That member must put the clothes on, swim across the pool, and hand the clothes over to the next team mate. The team that finishes first is the winner. The Pool Float Relay involves the use of pool floats. Team members can take turns paddling themselves to the other side of the pool or have a team member pull them to the other side.

There are also many games out there involving the use of pool toys. One such game is the Island Contest. Two opponents stand on sturdy inner tubes and try to knock each other off by using a pool toy such as a noodle. The player that remains standing is the winner.
